Chairman's Report

Dear EUnited Robotics members,
Dear readers,

We conclude 2014 on a high note: another record breaking year for the robotics industry and the forecasts for 2015-2017 look very promising, according to the IFR (International Federation of Robotics).

Along with industry's big success in the past couple of years, robotics has become the subject of conversation not only among the experts but increasingly among the general public and the media. This is a welcome trend that we will continue to support by providing factual information on the technology itself as well as on other related topics currently in the spotlight.  Our goal is to convey a better understanding of robotics, increase public awareness and shape society's perception in a positive direction.

Please save the following important dates: the next EUnited Robotics Members' Assembly on 26 November 2015, and the EUnited General Assembly as well as the EUnited Dinner Debate on 25 November 2015, in Brussels.

One of the highlights of 2015 for our industry will be the very first European Robotics Summit on 3-4 March 2015, at Kloster Eberbach (near Frankfurt).  You can read more about this major event in this issue of the newsletter.

As 2014 comes to a close, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Enjoy your holidays.

Henrik A. Schunk
Chairman of EUnited Robotics and Managing Partner of Schunk GmbH & Co. KG

EUnited Dinner Debate Report 2014

Visions of the future for manufacturing based on a changing economic world order; how can European machinery and equipment manufacturers respond?

On November 19, 2014, EUnited held its annual Competitiveness Review Dinner Debate at the Bibliothèque Solvay.

The discussions focused around the new Commission, represented by Dr Tomasz Husak, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Bieńkowska, and the ambitions to support manufacturing in Europe.  Our industrial speaker from India, Shishir Bajoria, gave delegates an insight into the new governmental focus in India - "Make in India" - and the opportunities available for European companies who wish to invest as well as market their goods in India.

Please find below the Dinner Debate Report 2014, summarizing the key points from this highly informative debate.
