European Robotics Forum 2014

More than 450 robotics experts from across Europe gathered at the annual euRobotics Forum, which took place at the Mart Museum in Rovereto, Italy, from 12 to 14 March 2014.  This year's forum, which had the theme "City of Robots", was the fifth edition in a row since the first one in San Sebastian in 2010.  In their opening speeches, both Khalil Rouhana, the director for "Components & Systems" in DG CONNECT, and Bernd Liepert, President of euRobotics AISBL and CTO of KUKA AG, pointed out the rapid development of the robotics sector in recent years. Moreover, the Robotics Public-Private Partnership (PPP) which aims at real applications in industry and services, will accelerate this process significantly within Europe in the coming years.

This year's forum offered 45 various workshops and plenary talks in 6 parallel tracks.  The highlights of this year's forum included: the "euRobotics Technology Transfer Award" sponsored by EUnited Robotics members: ABB. KUKA, Comau, Güdel, and Schunk; George Giralt PhD Awards; and the Entrepreneurship workshop. The euRobotics Forum is organised annually by euRobotics aisbl, a non-for-profit association in Brussels and the contractual partner of the European Commission in the PPP on robotics.  It comprises academic and research institutions, companies and national associations.

Local hosts of the euRobotics Forum 2014 were the University of Verona and the city of Rovereto.
