Clean water at all times means a quality of life on which we can rely. Something which fortunately is quite normal for us but behind which demanding tasks are hidden, for which a great deal of know-how and competent partners are needed.

Running water is life – and for us a daily occurrence in the bathroom and the kitchen. At first glance it is the gleaming surface or the design which gives a valve a pleasing appearance.

A contemporary valve, however, satisfies not by its appearance alone but in particular by its worth below the surface. The quality of the material, the engineering and the design decide whether it will give one pleasure for years to come.

Permanent ease of action and tightness are basic requirements, which are demanded but cannot always be found. A valve difficult to turn will squeak, a dripping water tap wastes expensive water.

Valves and fittings from European brand manufacturers set standards in precision, long life and comfort. The last-named feature applies incidentally not only to its use but begins with its installation. The manufacturers offer a variety of installation and assembly systems which simplify initial equipment or renovation. Connections and fastenings are exactly pre-assembled, modern second fixings consist of elements which match each other. With these systems, not only is time saved, they also save a lot of dirt and dust.

A valve will only function as well as the supply system to which it is connected. Technology in the background also determines safety, hygiene and environmental protection.

Pressure reducing valves, check valves, flow rate controls and self-closing valves, mostly awarded little attention, are examples of functions which ensure that these aspects are taken into account when considering a drinking water installation as a whole.

Pressure reducing valves, for example, protect against excess supply pressure, prevent damage by pressure and reduce water consumption. Check valves prevent penetration of soiled water through flowback, return feed of back pressure into the drinking water installation and the central water supply system. Flow rate regulators and self-closing valves ensure economical and ecological consumption of water.

Water purification at the waterworks ensures a potable supply of the costly liquid. What is decisive, however, is that the water remains just as clean inside the domestic supply as when supplied by the waterworks. This means that the materials used do not emit poisonous substances into the drinking water. Put simply, this means that the water must flow out of a tap in the same quality as it flows in. Constant tests on the substances used by the manufacturers therefore form a central feature of their quality monitoring.

Furthermore, both warm and hot water is expected where it is needed. This means firstly that the drinking water installation fulfils its function from the source of heat to the point of withdrawal unaffected by changes in temperature. Above all, however, it means that the temperature can be set and remain set precisely and reliably without much mixing between 20 and 50 degrees Celcius. Thermostats of European brand production meet these requirements and with built-in safety barriers at 38 degrees Celsius protect from possible painful experiences, such as scaldings, and they react in fractions of a second to temperature changes, caused perhaps by pressure fluctuations in the supply system.
