Energy Efficiency

EUnited Robotics has decided to monitor the European Commission’s activities regarding energy efficiency and the eco-design of Energy-Related Products (ErP). An executive briefing document has been sent out to EUnited Robotics members. Currently, the Commission’s Working Plan 2015-2017 on the eco-design directive is being drafted. For the first time, it is not only the energy consumption, but also material efficiency of products that determines which new product groups are considered to be added to the scope of the directive. Robots still are not in the focus for the coming period, as they do not meet the basic requirements like the minimum number of sales within the EU.

VDMA Robotics has issued a VDMA Specification on the "Energy performance for industrial robots", which has been published at the Beuth Verlag. EUnited Robotics will launch a press release to announce the publication of the English translation (still in the works at the moment), underpinning the high potential and importance of energy saving measures in robotics. EUnited Robotics plans to collect case studies and facilitate press interviews with experts on that topic. Your input is highly appreciated.
