EUnited Cleaning Position Paper on Ecodesign Requirements and Energy Labelling of Light Sources - (EU) 2019/2020 & (EU) 2019/2015

The Technical Committee of EUnited’s Cleaning sector has recently published a position paper on the European Commission’s ecodesign requirements and energy labelling of light sources.

This paper is available to members of the sector and will enable members to identify if their products are covered by any of these two Commission regulations and informs what measures need to be taken.  Importers, suppliers, and manufacturers of light sources and containing products must comply with requirements as defined by regulations (EU) 2019/2020 (ecodesign), (EU) 2019/2015 (energy labelling), and (EU) 2021/340.

This paper notes that the scope of these regulations also covers light sources which are placed on the market within a containing product. A definition of light sources as set out by both regulations is provided in the paper, with specific emphasis on the fact that this definition centers around “white light.” In addition to this, the paper lists in detail the requirements as defined by the two regulations which must be met by manufacturers, importers, or authorized representatives of containing products. The paper also outlines the light sources and the light sources built in certain products that are exempted by both regulations

Members can contact Frederik King (frederik.king@eu-nited.net) to request copies of this position paper or for any related questions.
