Robotics Community in Mourning
Loss of a true mentor and a great leader -
It is with profound sorrow and regret to announce the passing of Rudolf Güdel, owner and chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Güdel Group and vice-chairman of EUnited Robotics. Rudolf Güdel passed away on 17th September at the age of sixty-five following an operation after a brief but serious illness.
Rudolf Güdel was a true mentor, an outstanding entrepreneur who had an unerring instinct for the right decisions and the courage to invest in innovations making Güdel AG what it is today. He was a valued member of EUnited Robotics since its inception in 2004 and was elected Vice Chairman in May 2014. His brilliance, passion, energy, and sense of humor touched not only people who knew him well but also the ones that met him just briefly. We will greatly miss Rudolf Güdel and are indebted to him for his valuable contributions. It was a privilege to know and work with him. His memory will be honored and cherished by all of us.

About the Güdel Group
In 1979, Rudolf Güdel took over his father's small firm, which manufactured drive systems and components and had about 25 employees at that time. He successfully turned this small company into a worldwide group of companies with a current workforce of around 1,100 at twenty-five different sites. The Güdel Group, which has its headquarters in Langenthal, Switzerland, is a leading provider of linear, drive and system technology and achieved a turnover of more than CHF 300 million last year.
